What to Pack for Your Singapore Yacht Charter: Essentials & Nice-to-Haves for Every Occasion
Imagine the gentle sway of the ocean, the glittering Singapore skyline, and the refreshing sea breeze as you glide across the water. A private yacht charter offers an unparalleled experience, whether it’s a vibrant party, a serene family day, or a romantic escape.
But as you prepare for your adventure, one question often comes to mind: “What should I pack?”
Don’t fret! We’ve put together the ultimate packing guide to ensure you’re perfectly prepared for your SingYachts charter, no matter the occasion.
The Essentials: What to Pack for Every Yacht Trip
These are the must-haves for any yacht adventure in Singapore’s tropical climate:
- Sun Protection is Paramount: The sun’s reflection off the water can be intense.
- High SPF Sunscreen: Reapply often, especially after swimming.
- Wide-brimmed Hat: Protect your face and neck.
- Sunglasses: Essential for eye protection and comfort.
- Swimwear & Towels: Even if you don’t plan to swim, a quick dip is always tempting in Singapore’s clear waters. Bring at least one set of swimwear and a quick-drying towel.
- Light, Breathable Clothing: Opt for comfortable, quick-drying fabrics like linen, cotton, or moisture-wicking materials. Think shorts, t-shirts, sundresses, and light cover-ups.
- Personal Toiletries: Most yachts provide basic facilities. For typical 4-hour day charters, you might only need a travel-sized body wash or quick rinse essentials if you plan to freshen up after water activities. However, for overnight charters or longer trips, remember to pack your full personal kit, including toothbrush, toothpaste, and any specific skincare you require.
- Basic First Aid & Personal Medication: Include essentials like band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and any prescription medications you need. If you’re prone to motion sickness, remember your seasickness tablets – it’s always best to be prepared! Please note that guests engage in water activities at their own risk.
- Phone/Camera & Chargers: Capture those unforgettable moments! Don’t forget a power bank or portable charger, as outlets might be limited or in use. Consider a waterproof phone pouch for peace of mind near the water.
- Easy-to-Slip-On Footwear: Wear comfortable sandals or flip-flops for getting to and from the marina. Once onboard, our crew will kindly collect and store all footwear in a designated box for the duration of your charter, ensuring the yacht’s pristine condition and your safety. You’ll enjoy the comfort of being barefoot on deck!
Beyond the Basics: Nice-to-Haves for Specific Occasions
Tailor your packing list to the type of experience you’ve planned!
For Family Fun & Adventure:
If your charter is packed with play and exploration, these items will enhance the fun:
-
- Extra Snacks & Drinks: While catering options are available, a few extra kid-friendly snacks and favorite beverages are always a good idea.
- Kid-Friendly Entertainment: Small, easy-to-manage toys, waterproof playing cards, or even a child’s favorite floatie (check with us if bringing large inflatables).
- Water Shoes or Flip-Flops: Ideal for protecting feet when disembarking at sandy beaches, especially on islands like Lazarus Island.
- GoPro or Waterproof Camera: Perfect for capturing all the splashes and smiles during water activities.
- Personal Towels: Essential for drying off after water activities. We kindly ask guests to bring their own towels and a change of clothes to freshen up.
For Parties & Celebrations:
Stepping up the glamour for a birthday, anniversary, or social gathering?
- Dressier Attire: For evening celebrations or those Instagram-worthy photos against the skyline. Think elegant resort wear or cocktail attire.
- Music Playlist & Portable Speaker: Set the perfect vibe with your favorite tunes (confirm speaker use with your crew).
- Decoration & Beverage Guidelines: While you can bring decorations, balloons and confetti are strictly prohibited inside the Marina and on all yachts due to environmental and cleaning concerns. Please check with our team for approved decoration types. Red wine is also generally not permitted onboard all our yachts (unless otherwise stated) to prevent staining.
For Overnight Charters:
Transforming your yacht trip into a magical overnight stay?

- Overnight Toiletries: All your usual morning and evening routine items.

Important Notes for a Smooth Charter
To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, please keep these points in mind:
- Follow Captain’s Instructions: For your safety and a comfortable ride, please always follow the instructions of your professional captain and crew.
- Water Activity Timings: For safety reasons, water activities are not allowed after 7 pm or in bad weather conditions.
- Respecting the Yacht: The customer is responsible for ensuring guests do not damage the chartered yacht. Please treat the vessel with care.
- Smoking Policy: Smoking is not allowed onboard the yachts. Please check with the captain for any designated smoking areas at the marina or during stops.
- Alcohol Consumption & Behavior: Moderate alcohol consumption is allowed. However, guests are expected to maintain reasonable behavior and avoid actions that endanger others. The captain has the right to return to the marina and terminate the charter for disruptive behavior, with no refunds or compensation provided in such cases. Physical and verbal abuse of staff is not tolerated.
FAQs & Pro Tips
- What about food and drinks? While food and drinks are generally not included in the standard charter rates (unless otherwise stated for specific packages), you are very welcome to bring your own favorite snacks and beverages (BYO)! To get a full picture of all potential costs and discover the surprising affordability of yacht events, check out our detailed guide. We also offer customizable catering packages, including delicious BBQ options.
Please note:
- If you opt for our BBQ catering package, disposable cutlery and cups will be provided.
- For ice, while it’s generally not included for BYO, some yachts do provide ice irrespective of catering type – please refer to your specific yacht’s brochure for confirmation.
- If you choose to bring your own food (BYO), disposable cutlery and cups are not included.
- How are guests counted? Children and infants are counted as 1 pax towards the yacht’s maximum capacity.
- What if our guest count changes? No refunds will be issued for a shortfall of guests on the charter date. If your guest number is unconfirmed, we recommend booking for the minimum required. Additional guests can be added up to the yacht’s maximum capacity by informing us at least 2 days in advance and paying the difference.
- What about charter timings? We understand the need for flexibility! Most of our yachts offer flexible timing options within standard slots: typically, a morning slot from 9 AM – 3 PM and an evening slot from 3 PM – 10 PM. Within these slots, you can usually choose any 4-hour duration to best suit your event. Please note that the minimum yacht rental duration is 4 hours, but you can extend your charter by paying an additional price, which varies by yacht.
- Important Note on Delays: To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, customers are required to arrive at least 15 minutes early for their scheduled charter time. Any delay caused by the customer will lead to a corresponding delay in the charter. Although the yacht may sail out later, it will still end as initially scheduled, and no compensation for time delays will be provided. Guests who don’t show up for their scheduled charter are considered as no-shows, and no refunds will be issued.
- Are water toys always available? Complimentary toys (e.g., kayaks, SUPs) are subject to availability on the day of the charter. Malfunctions arising from previous charters may limit immediate replacement or provide an alternative.
- Is seasickness common? While our yachts provide a smooth ride, if you’re prone to motion sickness, read our 5 Tips to Prevent Seasickness on Your Next Yacht Charter for advice.
Special Notes for Pet-Friendly Yachts
If you’re bringing your furry friend along on one of our selected pet-friendly yachts:
- Pet Boots: We kindly ask that all pets wear boots while onboard to protect the yacht’s surfaces.
- Restricted Areas: Pets are not permitted inside cabins or on water toys/equipment to prevent potential damage. This policy is standard across all yachts.
